Retaining systems, drainage, hardscapes and turf — Morayfield to Gympie. Get the groundwork right and everything built on top of it lasts.

What we do
Most of what we do ends up buried. Levels, retaining and drainage are what decide whether the paving and the turf sitting on top of them are still right in ten years.

Site works at scale. Bulk earthworks, batters, access and levels — the groundwork that has to be right before anything gets built on top of it.

Engineered walls built to hold — gabion baskets through to concrete sleeper. Proper drainage behind them and proper footings under them are the two things that decide whether a wall is still straight in fifteen years.

Commercial and residential stormwater, subsoil and surface drainage. Most landscapes that fail don’t fail structurally — they fail because nobody worked out where the water was going to go.

General concrete works — paths, slabs and driveways — alongside paving, steps and edging. Then soil, garden beds and planting. Usually the same job, done in the right order.

Preparation, laying and edging. Turf is only as good as what sits under it, so the prep is most of the work and all of the difference.
Describe what the ground is doing and we’ll tell you which of these it needs — or tell you straight if it’s a job for someone else.

Every job on this page was built by our own crew. No subcontracted labour, no photos borrowed from a supplier catalogue.

How it works
No surprises and no vanishing acts. Here’s exactly how a job runs, start to finish.
Tell us roughly what you’re dealing with. We’ll say straight away if it’s something we do.
We come out, take levels and measurements, and tell you what the ground actually needs.
An itemised, fixed quote. What’s included, what isn’t, and what could change it.
Agreed start date. Same crew the whole way through, site left tidy each afternoon.
We walk the finished job with you before the final invoice, not after.

Who you’re dealing with
The person who quotes your job is the person who builds it — that’s Doug Casper. DCBM is short for Doug Casper’s Building Maintenance. The business has been family run for more than twenty-five years, and we’ve been working the Sunshine Coast corridor for the past four. Most of our work still comes from people passing our name on.
We run one crew. That means one job at a time, the person who quoted it on site every day, and your yard never queued behind four others. It suits the bigger jobs — full backyards, engineered walls, whole-property work — better than it suits squeezing six sites into a week. If the timing lines up, we can usually start sooner than an outfit juggling half a dozen.
Where we work
Based on the Sunshine Coast and working the corridor from Morayfield up through the Sunshine Coast to Gympie. If you’re near the edge of that, call anyway — we’ll tell you honestly whether the travel makes sense for your job.
